⁶ a third of you are to be at the Sur Gate; and a third at the gate behind the guard. Guard the palace. ⁷ For the other two-thirds of you who come off duty on the Sabbath and who keep guard in the temple of the Lord and the king’s palace, ⁸ surround the king, each man with his weapons in his hand. Whoever approaches the ranks is to be put to death. Be with the king when he goes out and when he comes in.”
